As a result of the meeting of the Council of the Ukraine-European Union Association, an agreement was reached to allocate EUR 50 mln for the development of the Donbas, Press Office of the European Union informed.

“An agreement was signed on financing the EU support program in eastern Ukraine. EUR 50 mln will be allocated to strengthen local government, economic recovery, public security and social cohesion in the government-controlled districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” message said.

An agreement was also signed to finance the program to facilitate Ukraine's participation in the EU strategy for the Danube region.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine held telephone conversation with Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
