The illegally annexed Crimea in 2018-2019 will be able to purchase 82.3 thousand tons of grain from the Russian federal fund of agricultural products.
This order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
“To allow in 2018–2019 the sale of 3rd, 4th and 5th class wheat from exchange stocks of the federal intervention fund of agricultural products purchased during public procurement interventions in 2014–2016, in order to supply the needs of the Republic of Crimea in the amount of up to 82.3 thousand tons,” the document says.
QHA reported that in the annexed Crimea in 2018, due to drought, 800,000 tons of grain was harvested, which is half as much as last year. So, 1.6 million tons were collected in 2017.
In 2018, due to the drought in the Crimea, 100 thousand hectares of crops were affected, mainly winter crops. Approximate damage amounted to more than 1 billion rubles. The price of wheat in the Crimea compared with last year rose by half.
In connection with the situation on the peninsula, “the head of the Crimea,” Sergey Aksyonov, was forced to ask Russia for 400 million rubles to compensate for the losses of agricultural production.
