The agreement, reached in November 2016 at a meeting of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, entered into force January 1, 2017.

“January 1, 2017 Moldova will not extend the regime of restrictions on the supply of Ukrainian meat and dairy products, and cement,” the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Moldova Octavian Calmac said during the meeting.

The restrictions on the import of meat and dairy products, as well as cement, were introduced by the Moldova in order to "protect its own production."
