Production of meat decreased on the Crimean peninsula, said the Director of the Academy of Life and Environmental Sciences of the Crimean Federal University named after Vernadsky for Academic Affairs, Doctor of Technical Sciences Yuri Gerber.
The rate of meat consumption is 70-75 kilograms per person per year. Today we have the figure of about 55-56 kg that varies from standard by78%. Therefore, the production of meat in the Crimea is insufficient, said the Director of the Academy of Life and Environmental Sciences.
He also confirmed that in comparison with 1990 the cattle stock dropped by 4-5 times, and it needs to be restored, as well as poultry, rabbits and sheep, reported Sobytiya.
According to Gerber, the peninsula can be provided with meat only in case large livestock complexes are built as it will reduce the cost of production.
