President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the issue of concluding an agreement on free trade between the countries, according to the information on the website of the Ukrainian Head of state.

“The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on topical issues of the bilateral and international agenda. The sides emphasized the importance of accelerating the negotiation process for the conclusion of an agreement on free trade between Ukraine and Turkey,” the message said.

Reportedly, the sides also discussed expansion of cooperation in energy, aviation and defense spheres.

Poroshenko thanked Erdogan for his unchanging position in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people.

Previously, the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, said that Ukraine appreciates the consistent policy of Turkey to uphold territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. The Chairman of the Ukrainian parliament noted that Turkey's support on the international level is very important for Ukraine, and expressed hope for such support in the future.
