The Students of Tavrida Academy in the occupied Crimea are not allowed to come to the classes in hijab.
The Management of Tavrida Academy at the beginning of this year issued a so-called resolution “On the establishment of requirements for the outer clothing of students”. According to this document the students` clothing should not have telltale signs of social, national and religious differences.
“Students` appearance should be seasonal, without telltale signs of social, national, religious or other differences brought into line with the moral norms and business etiquette,” the document says
Human rights defenders asserted that such limitations is violation of international law because neither Ukrainian nor occupation Russian legislation presents regulations on the appearance of students.
It is worth noting that, Turkish sportswomen if desired, can wear a hijab and perform with their head covered at competition
