Last night, the Mariupol residents could not sleep again because of loud explosions and flashes on the outskirts of the city. The eyewitnesses immediately reported on the social media the shell hits targeting the eastern outskirts. The information has been confirmed today: a peaceful settlement of Vynogradne located on the beach within the city limits came under fire. According to volunteers, Vynogradne was fired with 120mm shells, but this information is not confirmed yet.
The patrol police arrived on the call of the local residents. According to the Communications Division of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk region, they received a call in the morning reporting that the village was shelled at around midnight on the night of November 3. An investigative team is currently working on the site. The police in now making rounds along the village to fix the results of the shelling, the level of destruction, and to clarify details for further action.
Destruction of civilians’ houses and damage of a gas pipeline as a result of shell hits were recorded at the initial examination. Thus, about 600 houses left without gas supply. Preliminary, the incident was qualified under Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "terrorist act." Fortunately, there were no casualties among civilians. But two soldiers were killed in the Mariupol sector in the past day, according to the sector’s Speaker Alexander Kindsfater. The two soldiers came under mortar fire at the Maryinsky direction.
