Earlier, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov informed that in the annexed Crimea in areas with large concentrations of the Crimean Tatars in Simferopol, namely Mamak (now Strogonovka) and Bavurchi (now Kamenka), police cars of Russian invaders arrived to the houses of some Crimean Tatar activists late at night. According to Chubarov, "this is a form of sophisticated moral pressure on activists of the Crimean Tatar national movement to make them reduce their civic activity."
