Militants of the terrorist group "Islamic state" executed 284 people, who had been gathered to form a "human shield" on the outskirts of the city of Mosul, CNN reported, citing its own sources.
According to the TV channel, the massacre took place October 20 - 21 in the southern outskirts of the city. Among those executed were men and boys, all of them were shot. The bodies of the killed were thrown into a common grave with a bulldozer.
CNN stresses that incident is not yet officially confirmed.
Mosul is the second most important city for the terrorist organization ISIL, which they captured in 2014. In January 2015, the US carried out air strikes on the city, helping Peshmerge to launch a military operation to liberate Mosul.
