During searches of the Sky Moon vessel detained by Ukrainian border guards, representatives of the military prosecutor’s office found evidence that the vessel had called at the ports of the Russian-occupied Crimea, according to the website of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
At the moment, the reports on violation of the order of entry/exit from the temporary occupied territory of Ukraine have been drawn with regard to the captain, his chief mate and the crew for non-compliance with the legitimate demands of the border agency representative. Thus, the captain and crew members face a fine or administrative arrest for up to 15 days for the violations of the Ukrainian legislation.
The cases opened by investigators have already been transferred to the court.
With regard to the initiated criminal proceedings, the non-compliant vessel has been seized and may be confiscated in favor of the state. Now it is the first vessel, in respect of which such tough actions have been taken for visiting the ports of the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory. The investigation continues.
On December 1, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reportedly detained the Sky moon cargo ship with the citizens of Libya and Syria on board, when it illegally attempted to touch at a port in Crimea. The ship was trying to get away from the chase and run aground near the mouth of the Danube River. However, the border guards managed to detain it and bring to the Ukrainian port for further investigation.
