Mejlis met with representative of Friedrich Naumann Foundation
September 27 in Kyiv, a meeting of representatives of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people with a member of the board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger was held
Meeting was attended by the Head of Mejlis Refat Chubarov, Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People Mustafa Dzhemilev, Vice-Chairman of Mejlis Akhtem Chiygoz, and Mejlis members G.Yuksel, R. Shevkiev and E. Bariev
The purpose of the meeting with members of the Mejlis was to obtain information on the situation of the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea and to establish cooperation with the Mejlis.
Mustafa Dzhemilev informed Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger about the repressions of Russia in the occupied peninsula.
“We talked about the ways in which we can unite our efforts so that Western societies, including German, would be more aware of what modern Russia is,” Refat Chubarov
“We would like to know what threats exist for the Crimean Tatars, what is the situation in the Crimea now, how the Crimean Tatars can resist illegal actions,” Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger
