The Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian flags flying above the Mejlis

Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and members of the Mejlis attended the ceremony.
The ceremony of raising the flags began with the performing of two anthems – those of Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar people.
“The flag is also flying over the Crimea now. We are convinced that it will never be removed. Today, under the occupation, the flag is a symbol of resistance to the Russian occupation," the Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov said.
According to him, the occupants allow a few events in the Crimea showing demonstrative loyalty to the Crimean Tatar people.
After the official part of the event, the children from the Crimean Tatar cultural center "Qırım ailesi" recited poems dedicated to the Crimean Tatar flag.
On June 26, festive events are held throughout Ukraine. The main event in the capital of Ukraine - a procession with a flag and a rally- will be held on Independence Square in the evening.
Representatives of Crimean Tatar diasporas and Ukrainian diplomats raised Crimean Tatar flags in Lebanon, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania and Romania.
In the Russian-annexed Simferopol the rally is to start in the morning, then the flags on balloons will be unleashed into the sky. The events of the occupiers only with the participation of collaborators will be of demonstrative nature.
