Austria’s far-right Freedom Party (FPO) signed a cooperation agreement with the party of the Russian President Vladimir Putin "United Russia," Reuters reports.

The signing ceremony was held in Moscow with the participation of the leader of the Austrian Party Heinz-Christian Strache, the FPO's recently defeated presidential candidate Norbert Hofer and the representatives of the United Russia party, including the deputy chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Peter Tolstoy.

The agreement provides for the strengthening of cooperation in many areas: from "youth exchange to international relations."

On that occasion, Heinz-Christian Strache once again called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia, saying about "their dangers and inefficiencies."

Earlier, the candidate of the far-right Freedom Party Norbert Hofer got 46.2% of votes in the presidential election.

According to the report by the US Council on Foreign Relations of December 14, a probable confrontation between one of the NATO member states and Russia occupies the first place among the possible conflicts or threats in 2017.
