Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, told the Iranian media about the possibility of his resignation, if such action would help to settle the armed conflict in the country, UNIAN reports.

“If my resignation can help to settle the crisis, I will not hesitate with the decision,” said Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian leader has also said he demands the leaders of the Western countries to ‘tell the truth’ to their people. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Bashar al-Assad was ready to hold parliamentary elections in Syria and share power with ‘healthy’ opposition.
