The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz and the leadership of the German Chancellery discussed the release of the Crimean Tatar political prisoners and the de-occupation of the Crimea, the Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany Andriy Melnyk reported on his Twitter page.
“Akhtem Chiygoz arrived in Berlin! A high-level meeting with the leadership of the Federal Chancellery of Germany for an even closer personal involvement of Angela Merkel in the process of freeing Crimean Tatar political prisoners and the de-occupation of the Crimea,” he wrote.
Earlier, the Deputy Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Akhtem Chiygoz, called on Germany to help Ukraine in the matter of Crimea's de-occupation. At the same time, he expressed the hope that Germany will not confine itself to the non-recognition of the occupation of the peninsula by Russia. He said that Russia should not be allowed to circumvent sanctions and to upstage the issue of annexing Crimea.
