On October 31, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olena Zerkal met with Mustafa Dzhemilev, Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People, Refat Chubarov, Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and members of the representative  body of the Crimean Tatar people.

“They were interested in the issue of the adoption of the decision by “Qurultay of the Muslims of Crimea” to appeal to the occupying government of Crimea in order to seize the property of the Crimea Fund, as it is the property of the people,” Director General of the Crimea Fund, member of the Mejlis Riza Shevkiev told the QHA.

On October 27 in the occupied Crimea, a congress of Muslims of Crimea was held with the participation of Sergey Aksyonov. Its participants decided to appeal to the Russian “authorities” with a request to transfer the property of the Crimea Fund under the management of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea headed by collaborator.

According to Olena Zerkal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on several new initiatives in international courts and would like to become more closely acquainted with the situation around the foundation.

“We have already made a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but still thinking about how we will act in the diplomatic and legal sphere. In addition, we are drafting a diplomatic note to the Russian Federation on the property [the Crimea Fund - ed], we are discussing with lawyers the possibility of filing a petition regarding violation of the procedure for using preliminary measures,”  Olena Zerkal said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the intentions of the occupation authorities of Crimea to transfer the property of the Mejlis to the Crimean "Muftiate" as a targeted policy of discrimination against the Crimean Tatar people.

Previously, in April 2017, the International Court of Justice ordered Russia to implement a number of temporary measures regarding the case of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, in particular, to refrain from restrictions on the activities of the representative bodies of the Crimean Tatar people in Crimea.
