KYIV (QHA) -

Conducting presidential elections in the territory of the annexed Crimea makes it impossible for the heads of governments and states, as well as international organizations, to recognize the legitimate status of the person elected during this voting.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and People's Deputy Refat Chubarov made a corresponding statement during the meeting of the Ukrainian Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the draft resolution of the Ukrainian Parliament appeal to the international community, recently registered by the People's Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the People`s Front fraction Maksym Burbak, was discussed in connection with the illegal preparation to the presidential elections in the temporarily occupied part of the Ukrainian territory - in Crimea and Sevastopol.

“Taking the project of Burbak Maksym as a basis, members of the committee voted to create a working group that, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Administration of the President of Ukraine, should prepare a version that is reconciled in all respects, acceptable to our international partners and, most importantly, real for implementation,”  Chubarov wrote on his Facebook page.

The People's Deputy noted that by his vote on the day of the Russian president's election on the illegally opened polling station formed during the illegal elections held in the Ukrainian Crimea occupied by Russia, Putin once again throws an extremely cynical challenge to the civilized world.

“Therefore, my position, which I will defend in the working group, is the following:  holding the president elections of the Russian Federation on March 18, 2018 in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea makes impossible the recognition of the legitimate status of the person elected in direct president elections of Russia by the heads and governments of states, as well as international organizations ," Chubarov emphasized.

Earlier, according to Russian media, in the upcomming presidential elections the incumbent head of the Russian Federation will vote for himself in the occupied Crimea.

Reference: the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz said that the Crimean Tatars in the annexed Crimea will not take part in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation and are preparing a number of actions.

According to Chiygoz, Crimean Tatars are taking such a step, despite the repression of the occupation authorities.
