(QHA) -

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy have discussed the ways out of the difficult situation in Ukraine.

This was stated by the Polish premier's spokeswoman, Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska, Ukrinform reported.

"During the talks it was agreed that Europe must speak with one voice in the case of Ukraine," she said.

She said that the EU was preparing a joint statement on the events in Ukraine. "The sides are seeking positive decisions for Ukraine, because loud statements only about sanctions will not help resolve the problem," Kidawa-Blonska said.

At the same time, Poland's Government Information Center reported that Tusk and the EU leaders agreed that "further escalation of violence in Ukraine could have a negative effect on Ukraine's relations with the EU."

"The sides agreed that the EU stands ready to play a constructive role in the search for consensus between the authorities and the opposition, and representatives of the EU institutions are ready to visit Ukraine," reads the statement.
