Lawyer of Ukrainian pilots Nadezhda Savchenko, Mark Feigin, said that the political decision on Savchenko’s extradition has been already taken. Today, the defence of illegally detained and convicted Ukrainian pilot is addressing the issue of her transfer to homeland, UNIAN reports.

“We assume that the case of Nadezhda Savchenko has been generally completed for the defense at the moment. The reason for this is that we have entered into the next phase, which originally was supposed to be related to Savchenko’s extradition to Ukraine,” Feigin noted.

The lawyer also said that yesterday Nadezhda Savchenko received the extradition documents:

“This is a document set, which is filled by the supervising prosecutor at the place of stay of the convicted person subjected to the Convention for extradition.

Nadezhda Savchenko and her lawyer Nikolai Polozov are currently filling the documents which are expected to be executed tomorrow.

Mark Feigin said that the issue of procedural implementation of the extradition remains open and it will take "some time" to decide it.

“But the fundamental political decision on Savchenko’s extradition has been already taken,” the lawyer said.

Just a reminder: March 22, Russian court sentenced Nadezhda Savchenko to 22 years' imprisonment in a strict regime prison for allegedly "murder of Russian journalists" Igor Korneliuk and Anton Voloshin. She was also awarded a penalty in the amount of RUB 30 thousand for "illegal border crossing."

On April 6, Nadezhda Savchenko went on dry hunger strike, demanding her return to Ukraine, but after a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on April 19, she stopped it.

In addition, on April 18, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the issues of immediate release of Nadezhda Savchenko as well as Russian military Eugene Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov.
