Several thousand protesters gathered in Reykjavik near the parliament building, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister. After loud chants activists proceeded to more radical actions, throwing eggs at the building, the social media report. 

Law enforcement officers were deployed to defend the parliament building and legislators from the protesters, beating drums and trying to break in.

Yesterday, 4 April, after the publication of documents showing that the Prime Minister Sigmundur Gunnleygsson and his wife own an offshore company, more than four thousand demonstrators went to the center of the Icelandic capital. However, the Icelandic Prime Minister refused to resign.

It should be explained that on April 3 the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), as well as the world media websites published a large amount of material showing that a number of major politicians, actors, musicians and businessmen use offshore companies for tax evasion. Among the involved persons are Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Lionel Messi and other celebrities.

The transactions of 12 current and former world leaders, 128 politicians and officials, 29 billionaires from the list of the richest people according to Forbes are mentioned in the publication. It's the biggest leak of information (more than 11 million files).
