Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin compared the situation in Catalonia with annexation of the the Crimean Peninsula by Russian Federation.

He delivered this message after the meeting with Alfonso Dastis, the Foreign Minister of Spain.

Situation in Catalonia differs from the Crimea occupation, as there are no thousands of Russian troops and armoured vehicles, Klimkin said.

“Answering to the question about trends both in Catalonia and Ukraine, no parallels can be established. Since imagine 2 thousands of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles, thousands of Russian regular forces, tens of thousands of Russian recruiters. Everything would be financed by Russia and managed by it,” Klimkin stated.

Ukaine has only Russian aggression and no separatism, he added.

“We deal with real Russian aggression. It happened in Crimea first, the same tis observed in the Donbas now. But in terms of Russian attempts to wage a hybrid war against the whole Europe in order to weaken it, we do have common challenges, which we considered today.”

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin stated that October, 31 Ukraine would represent the draft resolution of the UN Security Council on human rights in the occupied Crimea. This resolution is intended to urge the Russian Federation to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice, as well as to condemn its actions regarding the non-admission of international and humanitarian organizations on the territory of the peninsula.
