The Russian Federation continues to adhere to the tactics of the controlled aggravation of the situation in the Donbas, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said at a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on January 3, QHA correspondent reports.
"I described the situation in specific detail for Sigmar. It is very tense. We do not have a real ceasefire. Only in recent days we have had more than 60 shelling, more than one third of them - from banned weapons. We lost three of our soldiers, 15 wounded,” Klimkin said, “Russia continues the tactics of controlled escalation in the Donbas. We see all this not only in shelling, but in how the OSCE cannot actually control what is happening in the occupied territory.”
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister further noted that the next day he would visit Donbas with his German counterpart and expressed his hope that Sigmar Gabriel will have a very good chance to familiarize with the situation in the Donbas with his own eyes.
Earlier, Gabriel said that the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas should be extended to the occupied territory, and its members should be armed.
