July 21, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko. The Presidential Administration in Kyiv hosted an official welcoming ceremony for the Belarusian guest, who arrived on a two-day working visit.

During a joint press-conference after the talks, President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that in the current situation in Ukraine he will do everything that Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin would ask him to do. He made a corresponding statement at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine in Kyiv, QHA correspondent reports.

“I want to say briefly about my position with respect to certain conflicts existing in Ukraine. It has not changed at all. You must understand that I never set myself the goal of putting the carriage before the horse or hurrying across the dad to hell. I did, I do and will do only what the two Presidents will ask me. I was asked by Putin and Poroshenko to organize a meeting in Minsk - I did. They told me how to do it, I did it. (...) So it will be in the future - what the two Presidents will entrust me, we, the Belarusians, will do. You Ukrainians should know that you have close and dear people who live just north of you," Lukashenko said.

In addition, the Head of Belarus said that Ukraine remains one of the most important partners of his country in the matter of the economy.

“Today we agreed to accelerate the work on the creation of new cooperative industries in a variety of fields. We will produce any goods that will be in demand in the international markets," he stressed.

Also, during the joint press conference of the Presidents of Ukraine and Belarus, Petro Poroshenko noted that the border between Ukraine and Belarus will never be used for aggressive actions against the Ukrainian people.

“Today I once again received assurances from you, Mr. President [Aleksandr Lukashenko - Ed.] that the territory of the friendly Republic of Belarus will never be used for aggressive actions against Ukraine, and the Ukrainian-Belarusian border will never be the border of war,” Poroshenko stated.

After the talks between the two Presidents, the ministers of culture of Ukraine and Belarus signed an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of culture and interethnic relations.

The agreement on cooperation was also signed by the Presidents of the national academies of sciences of the two countries.
