French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on August 10, during which they discussed the health of Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, according to the statement of the Élysée Palace.
Macron conveyed to Putin his fears about the deteriorating health of the Ukrainian filmmaker.
“The President of the Republic has conveyed to President Putin his concerns about Sentsov's health, which seems to have worsened severely, and emphasized the need for an urgent humanitarian solution of the situation by Russia.”
Earlier, the European Union urged Russia to provide Oleg Sentsov with the necessary treatment. The statement of the EU foreign affairs and security policy spokesperson Maya Kocijancic said that the state of Oleg Sentsov is rapidly deteriorating.
According to his lawyer Dmitry Dinze, Oleg Sentsov has anemia, and also a very weak pulse. He noted that Sentsov also felt bad due to the fact that he now has a poor tolerance of heat and the weather in Labytnangi was very warm.
Sentsov, in turn, in his appeal said that he was not going to stop the hunger strike. The political prisoner also noted that if he was allowed to move to occupied Simferopol, his state of health might not allow it.
