Svetlana Savchenko intends to address issues related to the protection of cultural heritage in the Russian-occupied Crimea, and the status of the city of Yevpatoriya in the lower house of the Federal Assembly, RIA-Novosti reports.

“Protection of the cultural heritage of Crimea, the creation of the North-Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, steps to granting Yevpatoriya the status of a city of military glory. We will try to do it,” said Savchenko.

She went on to say she is going to seek designation of Yevpatoriya as the "All-Russia Children's Health Center. To achieve this, the relevant program should be developed.”  

The pro-presidential party "United Russia" arranged a kind of PR Company on Savchenko surname.

During the election campaign in the occupied Crimea, there were election posters with the slogan "Our Crimean Savchenko" with photo of Svetlana Savchenko on the background of the empty beach of one of the recreation centers near the Black Sea, and the hashtag # RossiyaNasha (“Russia is Ours”).

Svetlana Savchenko was nominated as a candidate for the elections to the State Duma of Russia by the Crimean branch of the party.

According to the website of the State Duma, Svetlana Savchenko was a member of the Supreme Council of Crimea from 1994 to 1998.

From 2006 to 2010, she held the position of the Chairperson of the Permanent Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on Social and Veterans Affairs, and Health Care.

Since 2011, she occupied the post of Deputy Chairperson of the Crimean Republican organization of the "Union" party. Since March 2014, she was the Chairperson of the Standing Committee "of the Supreme Soviet" of Crimea on Culture.

Since September 2014, Svetlana Savchenko has been the Chairperson of the "Committee of the State Council" of Crimea on Culture and Protection of Cultural Heritage.
