December 1, NATO E-3A aircraft AWACS has approached the area of missile exercises of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), to carry out monitoring of the situation in Crimea in connection with the Ukrainian missile-firing exercises carried out to the west of the peninsula, the Interfax news agency reports.

The NATO aircraft equipped with systems of AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) - tail number LX-N90444 and call sign NATO07 - took off from a base in Geilenkirchen in Germany. 

According to the agency, the aircraft is now in the airspace of Romania and monitors actions in the occupied Crimea and across the Black Sea.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported the completion of 50% of the planned missile exercised conducted to the west of Russian-annexed Crimea.
