NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine announces the beginning of the procurement of special equipment in the framework of the Ukraine - NATO Cyber Defence Trust Fund, the Head of the representation of NATO in Ukraine Aleksandr Vinnikov told reporters on Tuesday, according to a QHA correspondent.
“There was a problem - delayed procurement - due to lack of the agreement between Ukraine and NATO on import of certain special equipment. Today the problem is solved, the equipment has been already purchasing,” Vinnikov said.
The Head of the NATO Liaison Office said that the procedures of the special equipment purchase will be completed in the first quarter of 2017.
“Ukraine will decide where this equipment will be directed to. But I want to note that the main implementing partner of this fund is the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU),” he stressed.
The NATO Fund provides funding for a project to create in Ukraine the technical capacity to repel cyber attacks, in particular: the respective centers, as well as a series of trainings. Romania is defined as a curator of this fund, and RASIROM R.A. Romanian state company is to implement the project.
Romania has contributed EUR 500 thousand to the fund.
