According to the website of Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Sweden is interested in joining the "Unifier" mission of the Armed Forces of Canada with the purpose of training the Ukrainian military.

During the meeting of the Heads of the Defense Departments of Ukraine and Sweden in Winnipeg, Peter Hulttkist, the Head of the Swedish Defense Ministry informed Stepan Poltorak, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine about his intentions to join the Unifier operation next year. 

“We would like to join the operation in 2018, and when we are ready to participate, we will notify how it will happen," Swedish Defense Minister stated.

In addition, during the conversation, he told about his plans to visit Ukraine the next spring.

Previously, Canada drilled more than 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers and provided assistance to Ukraine for more than 700 million of Canadian dollars.

On October 5, Harjit Sajjan, Canadian Defense Minister stated that Canada could join the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas in case he made sure that Ukraine's interests are taken into account.

Earlier, Sweden allocated € 5 million for the approval of gender equality in Ukraine, in the framework of the "Gender Equality in National Reforms and the Establishment of Peace and Security in Ukraine” project.
