During his working visit to London, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak met with his Turkish counterpart, the Minister of Defence Fikri Isik.
At the meeting Stepan Poltorak deplored recent events in Turkey, and was very grateful for the support of the Republic since the beginning of the Russian aggression.

The Ministers discussed the future cooperation between the two countries. Stepan Poltorak invited his counterpart to Ukraine for a more detailed consideration of the prospects for cooperation in the defense sphere.

“The Republic of Turkey has been and is our friend and a strategic partner. Our presidents have established friendly and trusting relationship at the national level, as well as both our Defense Ministries at the departmental level,” said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Army General Stepan Poltorak.

The Turkish Defense Minister said that his country condemns the annexation of Crimea and supports Ukraine in its search for independence and sovereignty.

He also said that the establishment of relations between the Turkish Republic and Russia will not affect Turkey's relations with Ukraine.

“The development of cooperation in the military-industrial complex is really important for us. The prospects of these relations are particularly important considering stability in the Black Sea region,” said the Turkish Minister of Defence Fikri Isik.
