President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, at a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, discussed the release of Kremlin prisoners, in particular Roman Sushchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Volodymyr Balukh from Russian prisons, according to the presidential press service.
The meeting of the leaders of the two countries was held within the framework of the NATO summit in Brussels.
Petro Poroshenko called for increased pressure on the Russian Federation for the immediate release of Ukrainian political prisoners.
“The President of Ukraine stressed the importance of consolidating international efforts to increase pressure on the Russian Federation for the immediate release of all Ukrainian political prisoners, including Oleg Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko and Volodymyr Balukh,” reads the report.
Earlier, Sentsov wrote a letter to the frontman of the Ukrainian music band Boombox, Andrei Khlyvnyuk. The leader of the Boombox said that he would try to do everything to ensure that Sentsov and other political prisoners were released from the Russian prison.
Reportedly, from 13 to 16 July a series of public demonstrations will be held demanding the release of Oleg Sentsov.
