President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held phone talks with European Council President Donald Tusk, the press center of Ukrainian guarantor informed.
One of the topics of the talks was the existing humanitarian catastrophe in virtually destroyed Aleppo. Poroshenko expressed his concern over the situation in the Syrian city, and, in his opinion, Russia deserves additional sanctions for such actions.
Moreover, the Ukrainian President and the Chairman of the Council of Europe coordinated their positions to the forthcoming Board meeting to be held today, December 15, in Brussels.
Donald Tusk assured that he will make every effort to ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, and will contribute to the early conclusion of the procedure for granting a visa-free regime for Ukrainians. In turn, Poroshenko noted that he expects the extension of sanctions against Russia, because it did not fulfill its commitments made in Minsk.
