Special Correspondent of "Ukrinform" Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally detained by FSB in Moscow, may be exchanged for an agent of the General Staff of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the RF Armed Forces detained by the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) in Rivne, a famous Russian lawyer Nikolai Polozov said on air of "112. Ukraine" TV channel.
“I think that the exchange is possible ... It is not the nationality is important for the security services but the benefits a spy or agent can provide. Therefore, in my opinion, the spy detained by the SBU may be exchanged for Sushchenko,” Polozov said.
The lawyer stressed that Russia is almost never in a hurry with providing access for the Consul to one or another political prisoner. In particular, he recalled the case when the Ukrainian Consul was not allowed to visit Nadezhda Savchenko for more than a week.
At the same time, when asked about the prospects with regard to Sushchenko’s case, he noted that the court as an institution does not provide the rights regarding the persecution of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia or in Crimea.
“There are people in robes who perform the orders established well in advance, therefore, in my opinion, if we are talking about some legal perspectives, we prevaricate,” added the activist.
Polozov believes that the Sushchenko’s case should receive the maximum media publicity.
“The only way to release Sushchenko is the international pressure on the Russian leadership, because it is no sense to put pressure from inside,” he said.
It was reported earlier that the agent of the General Staff of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the RF Armed Forces was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine, according to the SBU Facebook page.
