The decision on Russian contribution to the Council of Europe for 2018 would depend on fully participation of Russian delegation in PACE work, the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stated.

The Deputy said about the necessity of "obligatory change of the PACE regulations which would not allow anyone to infringe on the rights of national delegations."

She did not exclude that the Russian Federation would change its opinion on its contribution to the Council of Europe in the case of "adequate regulatory decisions", providing the full participation of the Russian delegation in the PACE work, to be adopted by the beginning of next year.

“On what basis should we pay money? Would we observe daily “Russophobic hysteria” for this money? No, it is wrong, it is incorrect”, Matvienko believes.

The issue of Russia's contribution to 2018 will depend on the development of events, according to her.

Earlier, at the end of June it became known that Russia had officially suspended payments to the Council of Europe, questioning its future relations with the Council of Europe.
