The EU imposed sanctions on six Russian companies involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge.
The official EU magazine reports that the decision on sanctions will come into force today, July 31.
Such companies as Institute Giprostroymost - St. Petersburg JSC, Shipbuilding Plant Zaliv JSC, Stroigazmontazh-Most Ltd., Vologda VAD JSC were subject to sanctions.
“Through their actions they supported the consolidation of Russia’s control over the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula, which in turn further undermines the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” the EU statement says.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine supported the decision of the EU. He called on European companies not to "go down the same slippery slope."
Earlier, the EU decided to impose individual sanctions against six people involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch Bridge connecting Russia and the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula.
In April this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine stated it was tracking the companies involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge in the occupied Crimea, and adding them to the sanctions list. According to the Head of the Ministry of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian, Kyiv informs Ukraine's allies about the inclusion of companies in the black list.
