The 2018 FIFA World Cup is to be held in Russia, but the uneasy geopolitical processes in the world in recent years, may lead to refusal of some countries to participate in the championship.

In particular, a specialized edition of "Football Arena," with reference to the tabloid The Sun, quotes the Foreign Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, saying the State authorities are considering a number of sanctions against Russia for the crimes taking place in Syria. UK leadership places responsibility for recent civilian casualties on the Russian military.

It is noted that the United Kingdom considers the boycott of the 2018 World Cup a great opportunity to shame the top leadership of Russia and even more blemish its reputation in the international arena.
