On Sunday, the US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of resolving the conflict peacefully, reads the message of the White House, TCN reports.
“The parties discussed the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict along the Ukrainian border,” according to the statement.
Apart from discussing the Russian aggression, the US President and NATO Secretary General spoke about the upcoming meeting of the NATO countries’ leaders, which will be held in May. Donald Trump announced his intention to attend the meeting in order to discuss the financial aspects of the NATO alliance with the United States and co-ordination.
Trump reiterated that the alliance pays not enough attention to the fight against international terrorism, and therefore is in need of reform.
Earlier, January 4, during phone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Donald Trump said that the United States intend to work on the restoration of peace along the Ukrainian border.
