Oleksandr Turchynov said that the year of 2017 will be a turning point in the liberation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied by militants of "DPR" and "LPR" terrorist organizations. He said this to journalists after the ceremony of awarding certificates and keys from new apartments to 58 families of servicemen and veterans of the National Guard.
“We see now that Russia and Russian-controlled terrorist groups are not going to fulfill any agreement. They are further trying to destabilize the situation,” the Secretary of the National Security Council said.
He stressed that Ukraine has not lost a single meter of its territory over 2016, which is significant.
“Meter by meter, we begin to liberate occupied territory. And I am convinced that the year of 2017 will be a turning point in this regard,” he said.
As QHA reported earlier, Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov promised the self-proclaimed formations "DPR" and "LPR" joining Russia a maximum in a year and a half.
