On June 15 The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Paul Ryan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and United States, Ukrinform reports.
The ceremony took place during a bilateral meeting in the building of the US Congress. Immediately after the signing of the document, Andriy Parubiy said to journalists:
“It is an important document that consolidates and structures cooperation between our parliaments”.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that the Memorandum includes a “very important formulation” for Ukraine.
”The text of the Memorandum notes that Ukraine is an "outpost" for the protection of Western democracy against the backdrop of Russian aggression. This is an important point of understanding and recognition the role of Ukraine, which defends not only its statehood, but the whole free world”.
Reportedly, the Memorandum specifies areas for inter-parliamentary dialogue, including the international politics, security, trade, industry, innovation, infrastructure, and space. Moreover, the document covers issues of cooperation in health care system, agriculture, natural resources and other areas.
Earlier QHA reported that agreement on the talks between Presidents Donald Trump and President Petro Poroshenko in Washington was reached between Ukraine and United States. The meeting of the leaders of two states will be held on June 20.
