In case of Russia's non-compliance with the restrictive measures of the International Court of Justice in the case "Ukraine vs. Russia", official Kyiv will apply to the UN institution, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine Mariana Betsa reported on the air of "Espresso".
"If Russia does not comply with this decision, the consequences will be even worse, because RF has already entered a steep peak, and politically it will have bad consequences. One can say that it has nothing to worry about, but it moves further and further into a dead end. Sanctions work, and whatever Russia says, despite their narrative, the more strict the sanctions, the more difficult it is for Russia ... The UN Security Council should consider this issue. Russia theoretically blocks this decision ... We appeal to the General Assembly in order to ensure Russia's implementation of this decision," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
Earlier, QHA reported that April 19 the International Court of Justice agreed to introduce restrictive measures against Russia for violating the Convention on racial discrimination for the protection of national minorities in the annexed Crimea.
According to the representative of Ukraine in the court Elena Zerkal, Ukraine expects Russia to immediately implement the court's decision, and calls on the international community to hold Russia accountable in case of its non-fulfillment its obligations.
