US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the country will not forget about the annexation of the Crimea by Russia. He made a corresponding statement during hearings at the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations of the House of Representatives on May 23.
“And this is a very, very serious matter. The Russians annexed one fifth of their country. We should never forget that that's the case,” noted Pompeo.
The US Secretary of State went on saying that the Administration of President Donald Trump will not tolerate Russian interference in the congressional elections and recalled that the elections will be held this year.
According to Pompeo, the United States will use countermeasures to deal with Russia’s attempts to interfere.
Previously, Mike Pompeo said that he would never accept the annexation of the Crimea. Pompeo further noted that sanctions against Russia for aggression in Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea should remain until the Russian Federation stops this aggression.
