Jon Huntsman, US Ambassador to the Russian Federation answered to one of the most frequent questions that Russians like to ask.
So, one of the users asked the diplomat "Who does Crimea belong to?,” to which Huntsman clearly replied: Crimea belongs to Ukraine.
“Anyone familiar with international law can answer this question. Crimea is Ukraine," Huntsman said.
According to the ambassador, in order to improve Russian-American relations, it is necessary to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Earlier, Rex Tillerson, the US Secretary of State said that the time to resolve the "Crimean issue" would come, and sanctions against the Russian Federation would maintain their effect until the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
