US Senator John McCain prepared an amendment of legislation to the Senate, which will allow extending the sanctions against Russia.
The Senator made a corresponding statement on his Facebook page.
"The United States must send a strong message to Vladimir Putin and any other aggressor that we will not tolerate attacks on our democracy. There is no greater threat to our freedoms than attacks on our ability to choose our own leaders free from foreign interference.”
According to the senator, the amendment he made will strengthen the sanctions.
"And so we must act now by passing my amendment that would impose strong sanctions on Russia and ensure Putin pays a price for his brazen interference on our election.”
John McCain also noted that it has been eight months since the Russian Federation intervened in the US Presidential election in 2016.
Erlier, QHA reported that on the eve of the election of the US President in November 2016, Russian military intelligence carried out a cyber attack against at least one software provider for voting, and sent out more than a hundred phishing letters to the election commissions of the United States. This became known from the secret report of the US National Security Agency.
