Nikolai Polozov, lawyer of the Ukrainian pilot Nadazhda Savchenko, wrote yesterday of his suspicions on his Facebook page.

“I and Vera Savchenko are not allowed to visit her sister Nadezhda Savchenko in detention center for more than 5 hours. Initially they announced that Nadezhda was being examined by doctors. Then they said that the governor of the facility was absent. It’s happening for the first time here.

According to the lawyer, Nadezhda Savchenko is deliberately isolated on the day of Putin's “direct line” press conference to avoid any coverage opportunities and unwanted questions.

Finally, Polozov managed to meet with his defendant. However, Vera Savchenko was not allowed to visit her sister after waiting almost five hours outside the detention center.

The lawyer voiced Nadezhda’s final words:

“If my dry hunger strike has no effect on anything, then perhaps my death will have meaning.”

On March 22, Donetsk City Court (Rostov region, Russia) sentenced Savchenko to 22 years in prison. Nadezhda said she would resume a dry hunger strike on the tenth business day when the verdict enters into force. And on March 25, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported that the state of Savchenko’s health had deteriorated significantly.
