s of today, 67 Crimean residents are illegally detained in Russian prisons, People's Deputy of Ukraine, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said during a speech at the rally-requiem in memory of the victims of the Crimean Tatars' genocide on May 18.

“To date, 67 residents of Crimea, citizens of Ukraine are illegally deprived of their liberty. 105 children are waiting for their illegally convicted parents," he said.

According to him, the occupiers staged a real oppression of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.

 "The prohibition of the activities of the Mejlis, arrests, harassment, constant searches, intimidation, physical and psychological pressure, the disappearance of people without trace, all this is the current life of the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians in the temporarily of the occupied Crimea," he noted.

Earlier, Chubarov said that the liberation of the Crimea must be implemented through the granting of the status of the Crimean Tatar national autonomy, and called it a step towards the de-occupation of the Crimea.
