On June 23, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andrei Sibiga met with Crimean Tatars during his visit to the Bursa city, according to his Twitter:
“I met with representatives of the Crimean Tatars in Bursa, we talked about the situation of the people in the Crimea and the Russian aggression. Thank you for the meeting”.
Ukrainian diplomatic department always listens to the Crimean Tatars, the Chairman of the branch of the Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Aid in Bursa Yunus Gyuneri said, according to the QHA correspondent
“We asked the Ambassador of Ukraine to help our fellow citizens in the Crimea, and told about the difficulties of entering and leaving the peninsula. Representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy know about our activities and promised to help”.
They also discussed with the Ambassador the situation of the Crimean Tatars in the conditions of the Russian occupation and the human rights violation in the peninsula.
The talk also mentioned the cultural activity of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora in Turkey:
“Soon a women choir will give a concert in Bursa. 105 women sing in the choir. Their repertoire consists of Crimean Tatar folk songs. The choir would also like to perform in Ukraine if it is invited," Mr. Guneri said.
After the meeting Andrei Sibiga invited the Crimean Tatars to the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine on June 29, 2017, and expressed his hope for the development of further cooperation with the Crimean Tatars. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will attend the official opening, according to the report.
