The prisoner in Russia, a Ukrainian Oleksander Shumkov joined the hunger strike, Oleg Sentsov's sister Natalia Kaplan reported on her Facebook page.

Oleksandr Shumkov disappeared on August 17, 2017 in Kherson in the occupied Crimea  under unclear circumstances. A month later it became known that he was in the pretrial detention center of the Russian city of Bryansk and was charged with participation in an "extremist organization".

"Meanwhile, Oleksander Shumkov joined the hunger strike, but this is not discussed so much unfortunately," Natalia Kaplan wrote.

QHA reported that Oleg Sentsov started the hunger strike on May 14, demanding the Russian authorities to release 64 Ukrainian political prisoners.

Attorney Dmitry Dinze at a press briefing stated that Oleg Sentsov will starve to the end.

On June 1 and 2, a global action #SaveOlegSentsov will take place. Activists who demand from the Russian government to release the Ukrainian film director, the Crimean Oleg Sentsov, announced their plan of action before the World Cup, which Russia is going to host on June 14.
