Gunduz Mamedov told Patriarch Filaret about the constant persecution and pressure on religious and ethnic communities in the territory of the Russian-occupied Ukrainian peninsula, including Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate parishioners, the press service of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Prosecutor's Office reported.
This practice is intended against Ukrainian schools, independent journalists, against Ukrainian language in general and against the Crimean Tatars, according to the prosecutor.
“The Autonomous Republic of Crimea Prosecutor's Office records all such facts. Persons committing prohibited acts against our citizens in the Crimea should be held accountable”, the prosecutor said.
Gunduz Mamedov also commended the activity of Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea Clement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church under Kyiv Patriarchate, noting that he “executes his Archbishop duty with dignity under difficult service conditions”.
