Family and friends of the Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally arrested in Moscow, placed a congratulatory banner in front of the Russian embassy in Kyiv in honor of his birthday, which will be on February 8.
The daughter of journalist Julia Sushchenko informed on her Facebook page, that this is a kind of reminder to the Russian government saying "we will not surrender in the struggle for the liberation of our Roman Sushchenko."
According to her, this is the second birthday that the Ukrainian journalist will spend in the dungeons of the Moscow Lefortovo detention center.
“On February 8, our Roman Sushchenko will turn 49. This is the second birthday that father will spend in the walls of the Moscow detention center "Lefortovo". Our family and friends decided to congratulate him. This banner is located opposite the Russian embassy in Kyiv. #FreeSushchenko,” she wrote.
Earlier, Sushchenko was awarded the Andrei Sakharov Prize - journalistic order "For the Courage", which the wife and daughter of a journalist received in Kyiv.
Earlier, the Moscow court extended the detention of Roman Sushchenko.
The special correspondent of the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform in France Roman Suschchenko was arrested in Moscow on September 30, 2016 and charged with espionage in the interests of the Ukrainian state. He is kept in the Moscow prison Lefortovo.
