The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea with the support of Diyanet of Turkey held a collective Iftar, special evening meal and prayer during Ramadan, in the city of Melitopol on June 5.
Mufti of Crimea Aider Rustemov shared the information about the event on Facebook.
Reportedly, more than one hundred people took part in the event. According to Rustemov, official representatives of Diyanet of the Republic of Turkey, the Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea, the representative of the Ulema Council, the Head of the regional Mejlis, public activists and veterans of the national movement spoke as guests of honor.
“Ramadan is a month of unity, generosity and mercy of Allah, therefore in this month all Muslims should be most unified. One way to bring together Muslims in one place for communication and unity is the holding of such Iftars.”
The Mufti went on saying that the Iftars will be held in other places as well.
“We also plan to hold a similar event in the village of Novoaleksiivka in Kherson region with the participation of Crimean Tatars who could not settle in their homeland since the days of post-Soviet Ukraine, including those who had to leave their homeland at the present time due to the occupation of Crimea and Russian aggression, and live on the mainland Ukraine."
Earlier, QHA reported that the Crimean Tatar Muslim community of Lviv together with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea solemnly opened their cultural center.
