In Turkey, the Crimean Tatars arranged a farewell dinner in honor of the Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, Sergei Korsun. He has been carrying out his duties at this office since 2008. On June 18, 2016 by the Ukraine’s President’s order he was transferred to another post.

During his eight year’s work in Turkey he repeatedly expressed his profound concern over the Crimean Tatar people’s issues. The Crimean Tatar Association of the Culture and Mutual Aid, as well as the Platform of the Crimean Tatar Organizations’ in Turkey (the most numerous derneks’ association) organized the farewell dinner for Sergei Korsun, thanking him for all the work done, as well as congratulated him on being appointed the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine.

Even during the farewell dinner the parties mainly discussed the Crimean Tatar people’s issue. Thanking for Korsun’s understanding and support he was presented a handmade jar (Osmanlı Matarası) by a Turkiszh firm Paşabahçe.

On behalf of the Crimean Tatars living in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, the Association and the Platform wished Sergey Korsun luck in his new position, health and happiness.

The order to dismiss the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey Sergei Korsun was signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on June 18, 2016.

Prior to that, the Honored Economist of Ukraine, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergei Korsun headed the Department of the Foreign Economic Cooperation.
